I know I'm guilty. Why do I need a lawyer?
You might know you’re guilty, but the Judge or Jury doesn’t, and you have an absolute right to a presumption of innocence. It’s the prosecutor’s job to prove you guilty. With possible punishments of up 364 days in jail for the most common misdemeanors, possible prison time for felonies, and loss of driving privileges at stake in DUI cases, you can’t afford to throw yourself at the mercy of the Court.Conisder that Illinois DUI Law effective from June 1, 2008 through December 31, 2008 requires that anyone convicted of DUI while transporting a child under 16 is sentenced to jail for a minimum of 6 months and pay an additional minimum fine of $1,000.00 plus court costs.
